IN this edition the book has on the whole preserved its general form, but there are a number of small changes and additions, the most important of which are: (1) A paragraph added to Chapter II in which the problem of space is formulated in conformity with the view of the Theory of Groups; we endeavour to arrive at an understanding of the inner necessity and uniqueness of Pythagorean space metrics based on a quadratic differential form.
